Blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery)
Blepharoplasty is the surgical correction of loose skin and excessive fat around upper or lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery creates a more open and fresher appearance around the eyes.
The skin around eyes usually looses elasticity and begins to sag, the brow may appear heavier and folds of skin roll down in to the upper eyelashes, sometimes inhibiting vision. Fat pads , particularly in the lower eye bulge usually on the inner corners. The lower eye especially develops a baggy appearance.
Sometimes the brow will sag and then the brow may require lifting rather than eye lid revision. This will be assessed at the time of consultation.
The Procedure
This surgery is performed under local anaesthetic and hypnotic sedation , in our on site theatre and usually takes two hours.
During this time the excess skin is trimmed and the fat removed. The wound is closed with fine subcutaneous absorbable sutures. Ice packs are applied immediately after surgery and are also recommended for home.
As with all cosmetic procedures we require to review you the next day. Sunglasses will cover up the healing wound , however this heals quickly
The Cost
Only after consultation and assessment is it possible to advise a fixed cost. However the cost of procedure and theatre together as a guide is usually no more than $2500 for bilateral upper or lower eyelids (prices may change without notice).
